Okay, Here's the Situation, Boy & Girl go off for a Week's Vacation

Hello faithful reader(s)! We're back home in San Francisco after a stellar vacation, which was roughly 1/3rd STAYcation & 2/3rds spent in New York visiting Pete's family in Port Washington, Long Island.

We had some serious business to attend to before heading to the Big Apple & as luck would have it, most of it was happening in Golden Gate Park. Firstly, we attended a birthday party for a very special one year old (Happy Birthday Elliot!). Afterwards, we headed to the California Academy of Sciences to take advantage of their free neighborhood day deal. Attention San Franciscans! Take advantage of this! It was the first time either of us had been & it was impressive to say the least. Finally, we took in some free bluegrass at the annual Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival, where we got some sun & a little too much cold, cold wind. Isn't this supposed to be the time of year when we get that magical, mythical San Francisco Indian Summer? Or are we just going to skip that this year...

After our long weekend in the city, we hopped a redeye flight headed to the east coast & spent 5 days hanging in & around the City That Never Sleeps. Pete needed some quality family time after a challenging summer (& Esme came along for support). It wasn't always easy & it wasn't always relaxing, but we did manage to have some fun with friends we haven't seen in a while.

While we both probably could have gone for a tropical vacation of some sort, sometimes home is the only place you can think of going. And sometimes, backup is necessary. While "Home" is one of those places where you always feel alright going alone, it's wonderful to know that someone cares enough about you to take a week away from work & accompany you for moral support. There's nothing quite like feeling you are part of a team, & knowing you are not alone when the lights go out.

Let's have some of these pictures do the talking.
