Happy Earth Day!

It feels like there has been a healthy amount of Earth Day-related cynicism this year, & there are a million reasons why people could (& in some cases even SHOULD) feel a little burnt out or eco-oversaturated. It seems like even the most environmentally UNfriendly companies are touting just how green they are (commonly referred to as "greenwashing"). BUT, please do not despair. Turn off the television, walk away from the internets, focus away from the noise. Find a quiet place with fresh air & trees. Yes, by all means go to a park, a field, a beach, someplace outside where you can clear your mind & just breathe.

Awesome, so now that you're good & calm, think for a minute about how it would impact you if that place was no longer there (or it's been burned to the ground or covered in oil or filled up with trash). That would suck, huh?

Congratulations, you have just been a willing participant in your natural environment. You are being mindful of stuff. If we all respected our community just a little bit more -- & by our community, I guess I mean the entire planet -- every day would be Earth Day (& there would be no need for companies to advertise how eco-awesome they are).

Okay, I'm putting the soap box away now. Here, please enjoy this picture of Earth from Apollo, taken on April 17, 1972. She's a beaut, ain't she?
