We’re really looking forward to New Year’s 2010, & it’s not because we have awesome, incredible plans in the works (unless you'd call dog-sitting a finicky, yet charming, beagle under “awesome” & “incredible”). We're really just looking forward to starting the new year on some solid ground.
Although 2010 was the Year of the Tiger (fact: look it up), it certainly felt like a caged tiger with a notched ear, broken tail & missing teeth for much of it. On the job-side, both of us felt like we were riding parallel roller coasters, one of which left the station a bit earlier than the other. Long story short, we both left jobs we had grown out of for new opportunities filled with promise, which didn't quite turn out the way we hoped. On the bright side, we weren't out of work at the same time (a good thing, money wise, though it would've been nice to hit the road & do some traveling) & the time each of us spent between jobs was minimal in the grand scheme. But now, we're both so so relieved to be enjoying where we've landed & excited that a new year is right around the corner. Maybe we can count on some quiet predictability on the job front for a change? Please?
There was plenty of good news in 2010 as well. The kicker: We got ENGAGED!! We spent lots of wonderful time with good friends & family. We visited Esme’s family in the Central Valley several times & made it back to see Pete's family in New York. A big handful of friends left San Francisco behind to begin grand adventures abroad (& we realllly hope to take advantage of their expat couches next year). Esme turned the big 3-0. We saw some of the best music shows in our history of concerts. We celebrated the marriages of some good friends.
2010 started off with a bang, sort of sagged in the middle, but totally redeemed itself toward the end. We're hoping our luck and love carry us through 2011. It's already looking to be full of promise and excitement. Esme's heading to Brussels & Paris for a few weeks in January, & we've got a wedding to plan!
Stay tuned for more adventures from two resilient tigers. Happy New Year to you and yours!
