1. Meredith Andrews' Sleep/Wake series, in which she woke up her friends for a portrait. Raw cobwebs in action here. Brilliant concept. [via Photojojo's awesome tumblr]
2. Welder/Industrial Designer Joel Hester (of Dallas' Weld House), makes steel tables from old car hoods.
3. A 100% biodegradable pen made from potatoes, which, if you're at all familiar with our global plastic problem (particularly in our oceans), sounds totally awesome.

4. Joel Scilley's Audiowood, a company that makes amazing (& very expensive) turntables from beautiful chunks of old wood.
5. And, saving the coolest one for last, Bicycle Portraits. The project was started two South Africans, Stan Engelbrecht of Cape Town & Nic Grobler of Johannesburg, this year. Whenever they can, together or separately, they’re on the lookout for fellow bike commuters & people who use bicycles as part of their everyday work, to meet and photograph. They’re finding out who rides bicycles, why they ride bicycles, if and why they love their bicycles, and of course why so few South Africans choose bicycles as a transport option. There is no specific range of questions asked, they'd rather just establish a conversation around the rider’s life and where his or her bicycle fits into it.
They've got a Vimeo site & a Kickstarter page. They're getting close to meeting their funding goal to make this project a reality.

Okay, I've got some cleaning up to do around here. Please enjoy the rest of your weekend!
