Lucky 13

Happy Friday the 13th!
And Welcome, Weekend...we're looking forward to you!
Today's the last weekday of Pete's FUNemployment adventure;
on Monday, he'll be a bright-eyed, bushy-tailed Assistant Account Executive. That has a nice ring to it!

To mark this special, oh-so-very welcome occasion, I took Pete out last night for some yummy sushi
(thanks to Living Social for one helluva deal, too!!) at Tsunami.
 ain't he cute!?

Tonight, we're headed to Santa Cruz to have dinner with my Aunt Anna and Cousin Megan
before heading to see the SPIN DOCTORS at the Beach Boardwalk! Um, yes we're totally serious... Hello, 1992! We missed you!
Here's a blast from the past we're really looking forward to singing along to later tonight:

FUNemployment

As you know by now, dear readers, I have been job hunting since my unfortunate layoff in early July. But I have great news: I'll be back in the work force Monday! I got a job with Schwartz Communications (PR, Marketing, etc) & I'm as thrilled as I am relieved! I know I'm a lot luckier than most, as I was only unemployed for a month. But it felt like a LOT longer.

That said, I've successfully shifted from unemployment to FUNemployment, & I've got the pictures to prove it! Our pal Eray came to SF from New Orleans last Thursday to shoot the Summers-Frederick wedding & she's been kickin' around town with me on random adventures all week. Here are some shots from an early morning Pork Store Cafe breakfast & foggy photo shoot at Twin Beaks & Ocean Beach.

Day 7: Time for a Montage

Today is my 7th day as an unemployed (yes, an unemployed), & I thought I'd share with you, dear readers, a brief & metaphorical montage which expresses exactly how it's felt thusfar.

Driven? Check. Unnecessarily violent towards inanimate objects? Occasionally. Lots of running? Definitely, but I'm not yet ready to haphazardly attach giant rocks to my legs while doing so. Perhaps in another week or two.

Esme is a busy bee down in Mountain View, but the food updates keep coming & they're as spectacular as ever. Perhaps I'll convince her to share a week's worth of breakfasts & lunches with you soon.

Stay tuned.

Leaps & Stumbles

There are changes afoot this week here at Tiger Attack Twins HQ.

As you know, dear reader, Esme started at Google on Monday. She's just three days in, but it has been nothing short of fantastic thus far. I get drool-worthy updates twice daily on what she's eaten for breakfast & lunch, & my big concern right now is..."so when can I come meet you for lunch?"

And the prospect of meeting Esme for lunch just got a lot brighter, because...drum roll please!...I got laid off on Friday.

Yes, total bummer, but I knew that this was one of the possible pitfalls of working for a very small agency, and I'm hopeful that I'll land on my feet quickly. Thankfully, we've got a lot of amazing & well-connected friends who have been quite helpful thus far (thanks again, kids). One door closes & a few new ones open up. That's the idea. I just need to get my foot in the crack of one of 'em, and fast.

On the bright side, I've caught up on a LOT this week. Keep your eyes peeled right here for a special unemployment edition blog, where I recap all the episodes of Matlock I've watched, discuss major coupon-cutting coups, & details all the angry letters to the editor of various local papers that I've penned since getting the boot. One thing you should know about me: I turn into a surly old man when I'm out of work, mothball-scented tweed blazers included.

Okay, not really. Except for the thing about the blazers.
