This Week in Cool Stuff

Pete wrote this last week & it was supposed to post, but didn't (booo)...so in lieu of Weekend Stuffs, without even further delay, here's a post of last week's cool stuff!

Hey y'all, howsabout a weekly roundup of news & cool stuff we came across?

1. Firstly, HOLY CRAP how good is that new Sufjan record Esme posted ? We can't stop listening to it! I'm actually sort of MAD at how amazing it is.

2. Here's a mix of some ridiculously funky, sweaty soul music I made. It's good weekend music. Please enjoy.

3. We've really been digging animal photographer Sharon Montrose, in particular her photos of Uma, a beautiful three-legged Great Dane.

4. Saturday, August 21st is...Happy Earth Overshoot Day! Okay, so it's actually really depressing. Basically, every single thing we collectively do past this date depletes our collective environmental capital & puts us into ecological debt. Meaning we are living in a highly unsustainable way on this planet. So, holy crap, there's really nothing happy about it. Not trying to be a drag here, but this news is a bit sobering. I guess it's a good thing Global Warming is nothing but an elaborate hoax (great piece, Mark Morford).

5. Okay, last environmental thing for today, promise. Here is an amazing mockumentary on the migratory habits of the majestic plastic bag, courtesy of Heal the Bay. We laugh to keep the tears away.

6. And finally, here is a blog by Eray (with some amazing photography of course) from her trip to San Francisco earlier this month. Can't wait to see yr face next month, Eray!

FUNemployment

As you know by now, dear readers, I have been job hunting since my unfortunate layoff in early July. But I have great news: I'll be back in the work force Monday! I got a job with Schwartz Communications (PR, Marketing, etc) & I'm as thrilled as I am relieved! I know I'm a lot luckier than most, as I was only unemployed for a month. But it felt like a LOT longer.

That said, I've successfully shifted from unemployment to FUNemployment, & I've got the pictures to prove it! Our pal Eray came to SF from New Orleans last Thursday to shoot the Summers-Frederick wedding & she's been kickin' around town with me on random adventures all week. Here are some shots from an early morning Pork Store Cafe breakfast & foggy photo shoot at Twin Beaks & Ocean Beach.

Happy Friday

Esme here, on my last day of vacation. Humbug...

Sorry we've been quiet this week - Pete's been MIA & my week as a "housewife" was not all it was cracked up to be. I'm not doing laundry again for a long time. In hindsight, I should have gone to visit the girls in Seattle. I'm not going to make the mistake of not spontaneously buying plane tickets ever again (Bumbershoot, here I come!)!

In an effort to get life situated before I start the new job, I've been organizing my website faves & files all week (along with everything else in our apartment), happening upon sites I haven't visited in a while...& here are some things that have made me smile. I hope they do the same for you!

My friend Dan Pasquini ("Squeenie") sent me the link to his wedding photos:

Aren't they great? What a lovely couple! And I love this dessert table.
Their wedding took place in New Orleans, which reminded me of little miss Eray's website. She's been a busy gal lately!

Both of these photographers' sites make me want to....visit New Orleans! You though I was gonna say something else, huh...

And this website makes me want to kick Pete in the behind to take more engagement photos:
I've been seeing this chalkboard trend for a while now, and want to hang them all over the house!

Well, back to my chores. Have a Happy Friday!
