We've been getting requests from our friends to "cough up the ring pics"! We considered putting a photo in the Thanksgiving weekend roundup, but we wanted to give our designer, the lovely & talented Blanca Monrós Gómez, the credit she deserves in her own post!
Esme first saw Blanca's jewelry on *A Cup Of Jo earlier this year & casually mentioned to Pete how much she loved it. Months later, we were sitting in Blanca's Brooklyn home admiring a jewelry box full of her designs & five loose sapphires. We thought on it & stared at all of them for a looong while before deciding on this pale blue beauty.
We couldn't be happier with how it turned out! Esme can't stop staring at it, watching it change shades from periwinkle to slate to sky throughout the day. We're looking forward to our second visit with Blanca to design our wedding bands!
A BIG Thank You, Blanca, for designing our perfect ring.
*& Thanks to Joanna Goddard for her excellent recommendation :)

Enjoy Your (Long) Weekend!
Happy Friday, and Happy Labor Day Weekend!
P+E totally forgot it was Labor Day until early this week, so, sadly, no plans were made.
{Remember last year we were HERE...& wowee, what a way to spend a weekend!}
We're thinking of starting a tradition where every Labor Day Weekend, we must do something outside, preferably in the mountains. This lovely project by Jelle Martens definitely helps to inspire.
Wherever you end up, Enjoy your long weekend!

This Week in Cool Stuff
Pete wrote this last week & it was supposed to post, but didn't (booo)...so in lieu of Weekend Stuffs, without even further delay, here's a post of last week's cool stuff!
Hey y'all, howsabout a weekly roundup of news & cool stuff we came across?
1. Firstly, HOLY CRAP how good is that new Sufjan record Esme posted ? We can't stop listening to it! I'm actually sort of MAD at how amazing it is.
2. Here's a mix of some ridiculously funky, sweaty soul music I made. It's good weekend music. Please enjoy.
3. We've really been digging animal photographer Sharon Montrose, in particular her photos of Uma, a beautiful three-legged Great Dane.
4. Saturday, August 21st is...Happy Earth Overshoot Day! Okay, so it's actually really depressing. Basically, every single thing we collectively do past this date depletes our collective environmental capital & puts us into ecological debt. Meaning we are living in a highly unsustainable way on this planet. So, holy crap, there's really nothing happy about it. Not trying to be a drag here, but this news is a bit sobering. I guess it's a good thing Global Warming is nothing but an elaborate hoax (great piece, Mark Morford).
6. And finally, here is a blog by Eray (with some amazing photography of course) from her trip to San Francisco earlier this month. Can't wait to see yr face next month, Eray!

5. Okay, last environmental thing for today, promise. Here is an amazing mockumentary on the migratory habits of the majestic plastic bag, courtesy of Heal the Bay. We laugh to keep the tears away.

Happy Friday
Esme here, on my last day of vacation. Humbug...
Sorry we've been quiet this week - Pete's been MIA & my week as a "housewife" was not all it was cracked up to be. I'm not doing laundry again for a long time. In hindsight, I should have gone to visit the girls in Seattle. I'm not going to make the mistake of not spontaneously buying plane tickets ever again (Bumbershoot, here I come!)!
In an effort to get life situated before I start the new job, I've been organizing my website faves & files all week (along with everything else in our apartment), happening upon sites I haven't visited in a while...& here are some things that have made me smile. I hope they do the same for you!
My friend Dan Pasquini ("Squeenie") sent me the link to his wedding photos:
Aren't they great? What a lovely couple! And I love this dessert table.
Their wedding took place in New Orleans, which reminded me of little miss Eray's website. She's been a busy gal lately!
Both of these photographers' sites make me want to....visit New Orleans! You though I was gonna say something else, huh...
And this website makes me want to kick Pete in the behind to take more engagement photos:
I've been seeing this chalkboard trend for a while now, and want to hang them all over the house!
Well, back to my chores. Have a Happy Friday!

It's Friday! All Day!
Hey y'all! Happy Friday!
Here are some things that make us happy today:
Leftover pizza from Little Star
Esme's $CHA CHING$ pedicure is still going strong!
Our friend Mick's hilarious tumblr! *He's taking submissions, ladies!*
These BEAUTIFUL photos of (what looks to be) the wedding of the century from feather love photography, also featured in the NYT. We scrolled through them last night & couldn't help but wish for a wedding this spectacularly awesome someday. Bonus: Esme went to preschool & beyond with the bride, and can vouch she's pretty rad!
This amazing young hula hooper, Leah Hurd. So talented & such a sweetheart!
We hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Spring Things
Sheesh!! After last night's post, P caught some MAJOR flak!
& now E needs something to cheer her up.
It's a beautiful day here in San Francisco,
and I wish I could be outside!
Here's some sunshine to brighten OUR days...
also for my mama, 'cause she likes the picture posts :)

Dear Pete, Please Make THIS for Dinner. Thanks!
Last week, we received our first veggie box from Farm Fresh To You (one of many wonderful local organic vegetable delivery services), and woweeee what a treat!! 15 pounds of in-season vegetables (YUM). Last night we fixed carrots, potatoes, chard & carmelized onions.
Tonight, I'm hoping to use the cauliflower to make this. The Dinner Files' Spiced caramelized cauliflower:
Well, actually...I'm working until 7:30 tonight. So I'm hoping Pete will use the cauliflower to make this. I'm drooling already!

UPDATE 3/24/10: We have made this 3 times in the last week,
one of them for a birthday potluck,
& it didn't even make it to the table!
Tiger tested, Friend approved!

1,000+
Hi, Friends,
Happy Monday…? (we’re trying over here, but we’re running on 4 hours of sleep and scattered brains.)
We’ve been quiet on the ol’ internets this weekend. We mentioned last week that Pete was out of town for a wedding, & Esme was catching up with friends & movies while he was gone. I know it’s kind of abnormal, but we haven’t been apart very many nights since we started dating (& especially not since we’ve been living together), so we were missin’ on each other pretty hard!
After a wee break from posting, we came back to notice that our little Bloggie has been visited over 1,000 times! This is quite a surprise, and one that makes us super duper happy, because it’s not just US and our PARENTS looking at this thing! In fact, the irony is -- even though we started the blog for our family to feel connected to us from afar, I don’t think either set even looks at it!
I know, I know…it’s not like, a MILLION like some of our talented writer friends, & it seems these days everyone, and their dog (literally, in some cases), has a blog. But for having no expectations when we started posting (Esme had never had a blog before & was quite apprehensive, & Pete was a devout "LiveJournalist"), we are just so pleased that people visit us! And we ESPECIALLY love it when friends come up to us and tell us how much they like ‘Yr Face’ (Thank you, Melanie + Rick! I wish I could have met you, too.)!!
So, Thank You, friends (maybe family?), anonymous viewers, folks who happen to stumble upon us from another URL, friends of friends and our faithful followers! We are just so happy our little life makes you happy, too!
Let’s make a deal – we’ll keep writing if you keep reading, kay?
We’ll also be back later with pics from our respective weekends.
Lots of Love,
P+E
